Are Republicans really this stupid?

I know they worship on the altar of Rush and Beck , but I've written before about the sheer wonderment at Republicans obsession with ACORN , so i wasn't even surprised when the candidate in NY 23 Hoffman blamed ACORN for his ouster and concession , and his belated attempt to "unconcede" but this is stunning:

Public Policy Polling released this shocking nugget on its blog: "a 52% majority of GOP voters nationally think that ACORN stole the Presidential election for Barack Obama last year, with only 27% granting that he won it legitimately." Say what? More than half of Republican respondents believe the president was elected fraudulently! That's a stunningly high number. It's disturbing, not only as a demonstrable lack of faith in America's democracy but as an expression of wanton ignorance. Worse, it illustrates the effectiveness of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, et al., alongside a well-funded "Stop ACORN" campaign, in creating an atmosphere where unquestioned lies become received wisdom.

Barack Obama won the election by an easy margin. In the end, it wasn't even close. John McCain knew that and delivered his concession speech before 9:30 p.m. Obama didn't just win in the urban areas where ACORN could actually be seen as a force—and which would likely have voted for him regardless of ACORN's participation. He won in places like North Carolina, where ACORN had just eight staffers. There's been no formal challenge to the electoral validity of the votes.There's simply no proof to back up claims that ACORN tampered with ballots. But there is evidence of irresponsible reporting catalyzing misguided fears. (NEWSWEEK)

Think about it for a second. A good segment of the American population is SO fucking stupid that they believe that a community-based (urban ) activist body stole the Presidential election for Barack Obama. Jesus!! He won certain parts of Utah, much of Indiana, virtually all of Northern Virginia even counties like Nelson and Greene County where on the odd day the Klan still marches through...Are these people serious?

I'll explain simply. President Obama ran on a couple things one of which was a promise to close Guantanamo Bay concentration camp.Where humans are tortured away from American law and justice. Why would a country that ran Nuremberg feel the need to ape German Nazi's by attempting to circumvent Geneva Conventions and redefine torture? Only GWB and Dick Cheney know the answer but by coercing and torturing the 911 suspects , they actually compromised national security by making it impossible to try these terrorists in a court of law. Why?

They say it was the ticking time -bomb theory.They needed to prevent further attacks against this nation. Yet by torturing 9/11 suspects , they placed future Administrations in the impossible position of figuring out what to do with these suspects who , by law , have a right to have evidence obtained through torture thrown out.

So conservatives believe Bush/Cheney had the best idea..Keep these people in legal limbo indefinitely on Gitmo concentration camp. Obama has actually tacked this issue in a way that has pissed off my fellow leftwing progressives by continuing the secret courts/military commissions and has only said they won't torture these suspects. All other Bushco actions apply including using fake "National Security" reasons for denying falsely accused , rendered and tortured suspects due process .

If you thought Clintonhatred was irrational , get a load of these folks who of course post anonymously while sending out "kill Obama" signals to their fellow crazies. I wonder if the Secret Service even bothers anymore since Obamahatred is stoked by conservative TV(Foxnews) and radio (Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck). The atmosphere is being setup for a JFK takedown and don't say you didn't here it here first.Heres an example just a few minutes ago:

American ingenuity was shipped out , when political leaders including our own Bill Clinton (remember Ross Perot's giant sucking sound ?) outsourced factories and jobs to Mexico, China and India . TV doesn't work, you call Direct TV , Dish Network etc who do you get? A non-English speaking tech in a cubicle in Mumbai. America's largest retailer WalMart killed small business in every town they set up in by union busting and outsourcing to China. Everything we buy today is manufactured in China, Vietnam etc while manufacturing towns in the Rust Belt , the steel towns and auto manufacturing towns die and all the smart talent leaves as soon as they graduate.

Its a prescription for a ten percent unemployment rate as all Wall Street "manufactures" is paper products of illusory wealth that can be wiped out in an instant when the economy takes a downturn. Face it America we got lazy. We like the fact that some Mexican cut our grass , that we only paid the landscaper $5.00 less an hour if he used cheap labor. We love the fact that WalMart is cheaper than Acme but at what cost to the American family? Promises of instant gratification have been the new American dream. Don't work for years and stash money away to buy a house like your folks did, buy one with no money down .See that was easy.

Why support mass transit when Detroit sold the pipedream that every American had to own a car or truck. Only losers and minorities ride the bus right...Guess what, politicians then refuse to fund smart transportation ideas and roads crumble , bridges collapse and Americans spend more production hours stuck in endless traffic jams or spend wasteful dollars driving 3.5 cars per household driving two miles to wawa, Sheetz or 711 now owned by that cheap labor foreigner.You know the guy who does what your folks did .Work hard and ....Save.

So whats the new wonderkind Barack Obama supposed to do to save Americans from themselves . This is Adam Smiths invisible hand at work you see and as more Americans lose jobs maybe that old DNA that built the greatest nation on earth and created the internets (thanks Bush for that one), sent man to the moon and designed the largest wasteful budget ever known to man will spur America back on track or will we see the demise of another great civilization ?

News is coming out that the Muslim man who killed our patriotic servicemen and women last week attended a Falls Church ,Va mosque also attended by two of the hijackers from 9/11 . At the time the imam of this mosque was radical imam who preached the Osama Bin Ladin type rejection of the west and America in particular.The family of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who killed 13 and wounded 29 at the Texas military base, held his mother's funeral at the Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., on May 31, 2001, according to her obituary in the Roanoke Times newspaper.

Nidal Hasan was also posting missives on radical websites including one praising suicide bombers as heroes to the cause of radical Islam.

An Internet posting written by someone with the screen name of "NidalHasan" compared Islamic suicide bombers to Japanese kamikaze pilots.

"To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate," the posting read referring a recent attack on American soldiers. "It's more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause. If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers because they were caught off guard that would be considered a strategic victory. You can call them crazy [if] you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam." (FBI officials say they have not yet confirmed that the Hasan who is the suspect in the Fort Hood shooting is the same individual who posted the writing on the Internet.)

Hasan also bought the weapon he used right after his transfer to Fort Hood, Tx.

The timing of the purchase of the Belgian made FN Herstal 5.7 pistol -- a growing weapon of choice of Mexican drug cartels -- is being viewed by some investigators as a potentially important clue suggesting that Hasan may have been plotting the attack for some time.

Hasan bought the gun on Aug. 1 of this year, said the law enforcement official, who asked that his name and agency not be identified because of the ongoing investigation. (Although Hasan's purchase of the gun was reported Friday by ABC and other news organizations, the date of the purchase has not previously been disclosed. A second federal law enforcement official confirmed the Aug. 1 date to Declassified on Saturday.)

At the same time, Hasan also bought several high capacity 20 round magazines that allowed him to rapidly fire off multiple rounds during the attack without reloading, the official said.

So what we have is a man who made crazy comments supporting Jihadists, attended a mosque tied to radicals who actually carried out an attack against our country , a man whose strange behavior concerned fellow soldiers , neighbors and an Imam at his new mosque, behavior concerning enough that the military and the FBI were watching him , yet he was allowed to carry a gun onto a military base ,and was promoted despite failing assessment tests . Is this political correctness helpful in our defense against radical Islam ? A soldier on the news the other day said he did nothing even though he was worried about Hasan because he didn't want to appear as biased towards fellow soldiers of the Muslim faith. THIS IS CRAZY!!

Winning in 1986 was great and the N Y Giants made up for it in 2008 but bad baseball can make for horribly long seasons if your team goes south.

Tasting success makes you want more but there are no guarantees in sports. Would any Mets fan think its dominant 2006 team could fail so badly since? Good luck as guys want to get paid and leave, or get worse or get greedy . See you in Spring training!!

Public option needed to control insurers madness

As a diabetic, i know too well how unreasonable heath insurers can be. I'm that person they hate insuring- a person with an incurable disease that will cost them money. They hate paying for my meds, my lancets,my equipment that keeps me alive.Under current law , they can refuse to offer me a policy based on my pre-existing condition.

Call President Obama a socialist or a Nazi if you want but this battle is about my life and my future because i work. I'm too young for Social Security or medicare, too rich for Medicaid, so when my old job went out of business , i lost my health benefits and have been paying cash for everything ever since. Every health insurance company has denied me coverage for pre-existing conditions or giving me a monthly premium that i can't even begin to afford and i make decent money.

When I'm in Virginia , at WalMart my meds cost $4.00 a piece for one month supply, in Pennsylvania i pay $29.95 for one and $24.95 for the other. That doesn't include my testing supplies, and dietary supplements, my annual visit to a podiatrist and eye doctor, my personal physician visits etc. Try choosing between meds you need to stay alive and your mortgage ! So this caught my attention: Robert Reich , smart guy and the guy behind the Clinton economic juggernaut says this.

Insurers hate the idea that's emerged from the Senate Finance Committee of lowering penalties on younger and healthier people who don't buy insurance. Relying on an analysis by PricewaterhouseCoopers, insurers say this means new enrollees will be older and less healthy -- which will drive up costs. And, says the industry, these costs will be passed on to consumers in the form of higher premiums. Proposed taxes on high-priced "Cadillac" policies will also be passed on to consumers. As a result, premiums will rise faster and higher than the government projects.

It's an eleventh-hour bombshell.

But the bomb went off under the insurers. The only reason these costs can be passed on to consumers in the form of higher premiums is because there's not enough competition among private insurers to force them to absorb the costs by becoming more efficient. Get it? Health insurers have just made the best argument yet about why a public insurance option is necessary........

......Now's the time for Congress and the White House to say to the insurance industry: You want to play hardball? Okay. We'll play it, too. You didn't want a public insurance option. That was one of your conditions for supporting the bill. You wanted gigantic profits from having thirty million new paying customers and the market to yourself. The Senate Finance Committee and the White House agreed because they wanted your support and were afraid of the negative ads and hurricane of opposition you could finance. But you're even greedier than we imagined. And now you've demonstrated that greed to the American people.

Obama winning Nobel Peace Prize good for one reason..

I almost fell out of my chair when i heard Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 joining Wangari Maathai as the second Kenyan to win ..just kidding folks. The only reason i applaud this is to watch the Fox News pinheads have their heads explode!! Kinda like when Dave Chapelle played the blind dude who thought he was White and addresses the Klan meeting-White Power!! See even though we had the Summer of Hate from the Right ( where some of the most blatant racism was on display at Townhalls), many around the world recognize how adrift America was under George Bush and the Republican torturers and can see through all the bigotry .

Maybe Barack Obama is just a symbol of a world getting ready to be more peaceful, or maybe he has created the conditions so the world welcomes America back to the fold , but we know the Nobel Peace Prize is more symbolic of a struggle- Dr .King got it for civil rights, Nelson Mandela for fighting Apartheid, Wangari for the Greenbelt Movement and planting trees, so why not the first Black Prez as a symbol of tremendous change just by his getting elected and overcoming 500 years of institutional and systematic bias and degradation. Congrats to Barry!!
